Camera or camcorder backpack experiment
How to fit a digital SLR camera outfit into a camera or camcorder backpack
I’ve started the experiment by trying to fit a professional digital SLR camera which is equipped with a 20 to 35 mm wide angle lens and a petal type lens hood into the backpack.
The camera has been fitted with the back of the body in contact with the back of the backpack, rather than with the bottom of the body in contact with it.
This seems to be the logical way of fitting the camera into the backpack; this way a larger area of the camera body is in contact with the back of the backpack.
If the bottom only of the camera had been in contact with the back of the backpack, the rest of the camera outfit - ie. the camera lens - would not be supported by anything.
It would tend to sag, which would place pressure on the locking system between the camera and the lens.
All of this might give the impression that everything is hunky-dory, that the experiment was a great success. But it wasn’t entirely successful, there are still a few problems, and I’ll describe these in a future post.
